Eventually, all quality gifted programs retire. That is to say that quality gifted and talented coordinators retire and too often their program infrastructure, systems, policies, and supports retire with them. The result is a constant re-inventing of the wheel, often by staff who wear too many hats already. Whether you’ve been tasked with crafting gifted services in your district for the first time or if you simply want to systematize your practice in formalized policies, this session is for you. This session will provide an overview of the necessary components of any district GT plan as well as how major decisions should be made related to service goals and philosophy, what services should be offered, and student identification.
